are to this writer's knowledge the only "Rock" band from the area to record for a "major label" as these 2 sides issued on the Philips label will attest to. The producer "Milan M. Melvin" managed to completely miss the group's "raison de terre". Two breif moments of the "Trakstod" sound (guiarist-singer-songwriter Jim Berick) can be heard on "Carolina Train" during a short guitar solo and the fade out ."Mr Melvin" also made use of rythmn guitarist-singer-flautist Bob Carson's talents on "Say Hello".The late 60's-early seventies was rife with guitar heavy bands selling millions of records to "stoned out" young people. How producer "Milan M. Melvin" managed to "miss the market" for Trakstod remains a mystery."Horns & Strings" indeed. Our "Blake" boys would never suffer at the hands of a nuetered Hollywood "Producer" but would nonetheless suffer the humiliation of "Selling Out" to "Show Bidness". |
